The Sovereign’s Orb (1661) Before the crowning ceremony the sovereign receives the Orb as ‘Defender of the Faith’. It is a hollow sphere of gold, with bands and cross set with precious stones.
The Sovereign’s Coronation Ring (1831) Made for the coronation of William IV in 1831. In the centre is set a huge sapphire with five rubies set over it in the cross of St. George, surrounded by large diamonds. With the exception of Queen Victoria, it has been worn by all sovereigns since.
The Commonwealth Bracelets (1953) Made of gold with fine bands of engraving and a ‘Tudor Rose’ clasp, these braceets were a gift from the Commonwealth to Queen Elizabeth II for her coronation in 1953. | | |
