The Dutch Coronation Set (1840) The originals of the items in this set were made in 1840 for the coronation of King William II at the Hague. The regalia was required due to the separation of Holland from Belgium in 1831 and the abdication of William I in 1840. The Crown of the Netherlands Made in silver gilt the crown has eight half arches and is set with imitation pearls and jewels. The Dutch Sceptre A stylised leaf design at the top of the sceptre, which is made in silver gilt, is supported by a small orb and cross. The Dutch Orb Made in silver gilt and set with imitation jewels. The Dutch Sword The State Sword of the Netherlands has a gilded grip set with imitation stones and pearls. The scabbard and hilt are of crimson and velvet.
